How the “FairVote Five” were fired

Five employees from FairVote Minnesota helped to democratize their communities, and democratized their workplace. Then, their employer let them go.

I spoke with Audra Waylett, former regional organizing director at FairVote Minnesota, an organization that educates communities about ranked choice voting.

She told me about the experience of getting fired on the first day of bargaining.

It was dismaying to read about on social media, an organization that promotes democracy, acting against those democratic values in the workplace. So many people responded to their post in solidarity. Thank you to the former employees for the work they did in the communities around Minnesota and thank you for speaking out!
